Our first geocaching!

Saturday August 23, 2009

We decided to take the kids geocaching today. Or as Jessica calls it treasure hunting!

So we made a new geocaching name 4_wild_windhams, mostly in honor of Nathan and we loaded a bunch of caches near Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville and we headed out.

Since we were treasure hunting, Jessica needed her magnifying glass.

Jessica looking for her first find.

Entering the wooded area!

Still looking.

Yeh, we got it. It was hidden down inside the hollow of a tree. Glad Chris was there, because I was not sticking my hand in there!

Let's see what we got!

I am filling out the log. Jessica is looking through the treasure.

And we are off to our next find.

Yep, another one I was glad Chris was there! Would not have stuck my hand in there!

Nathan just had to look in the hole!

More treasure.

Ok, we walked through a bunch of stuff that looked like this. Hey Mark, is this poison ivy??

We couldn't find the third one. So we were off to the fourth!

Jessica took over the GPS at this point.

Nathan found some rocks that he just couldn't leave behind, so he filled up his shirt and held it in his mouth so he could carry the rocks. But it started slowing him down so I put them in his pocket which filled up one side of his pant to make it lopsidded. So finally he found this sign that he thought would be a great target and one by one he would throw at the sign and lose his rocks in the wooded area behind it.

Thought this was sweet.

Yet another wooded area. This one had a clue of look for the bunny ears.

We looked and looked!

Finally Jessica found a "bunny" hidden in an old stump and it had stuff stuffed inside the bottom of it.

She put the bunny back in a nice spot for the next person.

Before leaving, we hit the playground for a few minutes. They had a slide and a bunch of sand to finish getting officially completely dirty!.

Good day. We all had a nice time together today!
