Day with Daddy

Chris was able to come home last weekend. It was a short trip but we made the most of our time!

Probably a year or two ago, I cut an article out about a place you can cook your own pancakes because I though it would be fun to try out.

So Saturday morning, we got up and headed to Berry Hill near the 100 Oaks Mall to try out the Pfunky Griddle. It was great! The food was very good and the kids loved it.

They designed each of the tables with a grill in the middle. If you order pancakes, you get a pitcher of 5 grain batter and a pitcher of regualar batter and one topping to go on it. Pancakes are all you can eat.

They give you each a plate and a spatula.


Then you cook it all yourself on the griddle.

Ladybug and I both ordered French Toast. They brought us a plate with the coating in a bowl and big thick pieces of bread all around it. So we dipped them and then put them on the griddle.

Our waitress made Batman a mickey mouse pancake. He ordered chocolate chips as his topping.

Ladybug had the best time.

The Pfunky Griddle was in a renovated house and all along the street were businesses in houses. We found two more to stop in to visit.


The bird store! Ladybug loves birds. She made a bird book in school and is always pointing out birds and saying, look a robin, look a speckled worrbler! Well the store had bird feeders set up outside so there were birds and squirrels every where. So we went in to visit and came out with a birdfeeder, a gallon of bird food and her very own bird book that names all the birds of Tennessee and color coordinates them for her.

Daddy hung up the bird feeder in the back yard. The first couple of days we didn't see much action but when we got up on Tuesday morning, the food was half gone! We can peek outside now and see birds eating on the perches and ones on the ground getting everything that drops.

Then we found a homemade dog food store. Well, they make dog treats. We had one of these in Collierville that we would stop in.



We picked out a couple of the bigger treats and then filled up a little bag of dog biscuits made with chicken and peanut butter and other stuff. I used to have a bunch of recipes to make dog biscuts and we may have to pull them back out and make some with the kids. They just absolutely love the dogs this summer. Batman wakes up in the morning, takes his pj's off and makes a bee line for the back door to pet Raven.

Then we headed to Home Depot to purchase our 3rd doggie door in 6 years. Shadow tore up the door again trying to get in last week while I was mowing the grass.

Then we all went to see Toy Story 3. This week I got Toy Story 1 and 2 from netflix and the kids and I watched them (Actually Daddy got to see #2 on Friday night as well). What a fantastic movie. All three of them were so enjoyable and the kids loved it. My only (semi) complaint was the fact that it cost the four of us $29 to go see a early movie!


We installed the doggie door and had a nice evening before he had to head back out on Sunday.

New haircuts!

Last week the kids got their hair cut.

Well, Batman got it shaved! I love rubbing my hands over his head now!

And Ladybug, hopped right up and said, "when it is hot, my hair makes my neck sticky and hot. Can you cut it up here". As she put her hand way up above her ears. Well, my girl knows what she wants and isn't she just adorable when she got it!

Ok, I posted maybe four or five posts and that should put us up to date (except for the kids birthdays in May, which I really want to get to). It has been harder to find time to get on the computer because I have kids with me 24 and 7 and I mean that literally. I sneak out of bed in the morning and Batman is usually shortly behind me. I say I sneak because sometime during the night he crawls in bed with me. And Ladybug has been a pistol to get to sleep and a few nights, I have just given up and gone to bed with her. That girl is an energizer bunny and she just keeps going.

Updates:
No one has looked at the house yet. So I guess I am opening my mind a little more and realizing the plan may not be to move right away. We are just going day by day. I will decide on school in a few weeks. We may just plan to start here.

Ladybug started piano lessons and is doing very well and enjoying it.

I am missing AZ. Although the heat has been wonderful and I am enjoying summer, I miss my trip out to see my family. The kids have mentioned several times that they want to swim in Grandpa Hatch's pool. But I still feel with being in limbo about moving, that I need to be here.

This week, I have no pictures so far but this is our swimming week! On Monday a friend invited us to swim at their house and we spent the day there and had to drag the kids out of the pool. Then today (Tuesday) we headed to the YMCA and had a great time swimming. We spent 3 hours, then made a quick trip to Aldi and got home just in time to make dinner. We are swimming with another friend tomorrow and going to Russell Sims on Friday. So I think we will get our fill of sun this week. As Ladybug puts it, they kids are "brown as biscuits".

I can't believe that June is almost over though. We only have about 5 weeks before school mode kicks in again and I am so not ready. I am having too much fun sleeping in and staying up and watching movies and playing all day.

Week of the visiting librarys!

Last week we actually went to the library on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday we headed downtown. We enjoy their storytime with the puppets and singing and juggling.

And they allow all the kids to come on and sit on the stage for the last song and they love that. It was very full so Batman sat on Ladybug's lap


Afterward, one of the guys had his guitar out and let the kids strum a few times.

They they had a craft afterward. Batman was all business, lets get this cut and glued and done.

Ladybug would have sat and colored and decorated for another 30 minutes.

Then we headed out to the fountain outside and had some lunch.


Batman actually snapped this picture. I think I will have two photographers on my hands as the kids get older.

And then we found the rolly pollies and I am sure this just made their day.




Batmans never did come out of the ball. Not sure it ever will.

Then we headed downstairs to their restaurant. Ladybug wanted some bread. She loves the bread and soup here, so I told her we could pick up some bread to take home. Welllll, we saw these chocolate covered strawberries and decided to have a snack.


Then she said she was still hungry so I broke down and bought her a cup of soup and she ate almost the whole thing. And that was after she had just eaten lunch!


We wore Batman out. He was asleep before we got home.

Then Wednesday we went to the White House summer story time kickoff and I am so glad we did. They had a ventriloquist that put on at least a 45 minute show. The kids loved it and I have never seen so many people at the WH story time before! But I left my camera in the car because I figured it would be a regular story time.

Then Thursday, we headed back downtown for the musical petting zoo. The Country Music Hall of Fame brought a bunch of instruments to the library for the kids to play. But we goofed a little. We met some friends there and it was so busy that we decided to eat lunch right outside and then come back in. Well, the kids found the rolly pollies again and I think we played with the bugs a little too long because they were still playing instruments when we went to wash our hands but when we came out of the bathroom, they were cleaning them up. So we didn't get to spend as much time as we wanted but the kids had fun anyways.

I laugh everytime I take a "bug" or "flower" picture because Chris always says at the photographers meetings, the "older" people will put slide shows up of their butterfly and flower pictures and he thinks it is soooo borning to look at. But this bug pictures is purely for scrapbook keepsakes, it was what they were playing with!

Then they kids and walked across the street to check out the fountain in front of the library.

They are wearing their rain boots on this beautiful sunny and warm day because it was raining when we left the house. Actually it was pouring, lightening and thundering.

Then I got a text that some friends were heading to Cornerstone after lunch. Well that is perfect, they were not worn out yet from the rolly pollies so we headed in the direction.
