They got some of it right and some wrong

Well we woke up this morning to ...... no snow. So we headed out to a friends house to work out and play and the time slipped by and before I knew it, it was noon and guess what? No snow! So we turned the news on and it seemed to have already started hitting Nashville and south. So where was our snow??? After lunch we headed home and by this time it had begun to snow lightly. It was starting to stick. So the pictures below are about 2pm.




It was very pretty and it did continue to snow the rest of the day. As Chris got home around six, it still hadn't covered alll of the grass. So this is no 6-8 inches here.

But as I look out the window at 11pm, Chris's footprints are completely covered. There are no more pieces of grass peaking through and it it is still snowing.

The forecast says that by tomorrow at noon, Nashville will have about 8 inches and Portland (just north of us) will have 9 inches.

So the forecasters got it right, just the timing was off. Either way, it is beautiful outside.

Snow?? Still happening!

School is closed. The anticipated time of arrival has changed from 6am to 9am but now the totals have actually increased. By Saturday afternoon, Portland (about 10 miles north of us) is expected to have 8 (yes I said e-i-g-h-t) inches of snow and Millersville (about 5-7 miles south of us) is expected to have 6 inches of snow. So by the law of averages 7 inches is a pretty significant amount of snow for the kids to see! We can really use our measuring sticks now.

But, change will and always does happen, so let's wait and see what they are saying on the six am news. Hopes are high for a big number though!

Snow day???

Ok, lets see how the meteorologists do this time around!!

As of Wednesday afternoon:

Winter Storm Watch in effect for Friday morning till Friday evening.

Beginning late Thursday night

Nashville - sleet and freezing rain - 1/2 inch of ice accumulation and and 1-2 of snow on top of that
North of Nashville - Snow (yep that's us.) Southern Kentucky up to four inches of snow.

So looks like either way we are getting a snow day Friday!!! But will we get snow? Ice? or Rain?

I think I am just as much or more excited about snow days than the kids! (not really for the cold weather but a day to sleep in!)

Abraham Lincoln

On Friday's I have been trying to go in and help in the office at Ladybug's school. Well, this Friday they had a special guest come in and they held an assembly in the gym and I had the opportunity to watch and take some pictures.

They had all the little ones in the floor.

Each classroom was responsible for a state. The class had to learn about the state and then they each wore something or created something representing their state and at the assembly, each class stood up and held their state up. Ladybug's class had Mississippi and they created hats with bears on them (Although I lived in Mississippi for a number of year, I didn't know bears were associated with them.). Ladybug and her friend A. were holding the states for their class.

Abraham Lincoln arrives. Notice how tall he his coming in the doorway. He was 6 foot 7 inches and then he had the hat on top of that.

He described his life story as if he were Abraham Lincoln. Most of it was pretty dry but he had some funny stories in there like when they put footprints on the ceiling of the house.

So glad that I got to be there that day because there are so many things that happen as school that I never know about because Ladybug forgets to tell me or can't remember!

A new era of .......softball

Ladybug was given the choice of soccer or softball. She chose softball. I personally was pleased because I played when I was her age (although it was t-ball) back then but I left my opinion out and let her decide.

On Saturday we went to sign up. We took Batman to sign up for Soccer. For the rest of the day he kept asking to play "soccer game". When we got to the fields, he expected to play right then and didn't want to wait. Ladybug didn't hesitate at soccer sign ups, she still wanted to play softball.

So that afternoon, we went and purchased gloves for all of us. Batman wanted one too because if he was big enough, I am pretty sure he would rather play baseball. Daddy got one because he didn't have one and I went ahead and got a new one because mine is soooo old, the strings are falling off. Although, I was sad because my old one was so broken in!

Daddy started breaking them in. They were much softer after a night tied up in rubber bands but still need a lot of play time to get them really good.

Well today, we went outside to practice. Batman did much of his own thing but already has a pretty good arm and Ladybug was doing great. She was catching it and throwing very well with pretty good aim.

That was until ball hit her in the head.


She had a nice little bump on her forehead. Poor baby. Out came the ice. Practice is definitely on the agenda!

Lowes project - Tic tac toe game

This weeks project was a tic tac toe game. Ladybug liked to play the game and Batman likes to play with the pieces and make shapes and designs. Fun project. The lid slides open so that you can store the pieces inside.


Here Batman was putting daddy's finger in the box and closing it.

The kids thought it was hilarious to catch his finger in there!

Awana last Wednesday

Here are a few pics from Awana last Wednesday. Ladybug got to hold the Awana flag. Each week they hand out green tokens to a certain number of Sparks and T&T kids that are doing a good job and listening and at the end of the night the ones that have tokens randomly pick awards out of a bucket and the holding of the flags and the bible are one of the rewards.

101 Dalmatians at TPAC

On Tuesday night I took the kids to TPAC to see the Broadway performance of The 101 Dalmatians. Tuesday was kids night so they had activity stations set up for the kids before hand. The performance was a great musical and the kids enjoyed it but it was not really like the movie. It hit on a couple of highlights like the dogs got stolen and went to Cruella's place and they covered themselves in soot but other than that, the rest of the show was completely different. They did have real dogs crossing the stage every once in a while which the kids liked and then the last scene was a lot of fun in that the dogs performed tricks all over the stage like pulling curtains down and moving dog houses and opening things.

Then before the show they walked the three dalmations across the room and here the kids were waiting for them to come through.

This was the end of the night. It was 10pm and I asked for one more picture and they were very tired and ready to go. Of course Batman makes that face a lot even when he is not tired. Very fun night. They passed out in the car on the way home and Batman actually slept in his bed allll night long last night. Course Ladybug usually sleeps all night long in her own bed but I found her curled up between us this morning. Just can't get the bed to ourselves for the whole night. lol!

Little update

Sorry it has been a week since my last post. I haven't had a whole lot to update but here are a few things.

Our Lowes project from a week and half ago was a coin bank. It was actually very neat. It has different slots for each coin and the front shows how much money you have in each slot.

Then on Martin Luther King weekend we met up with some friends at Monkey Joes. The kids ran and ran for two hours and had a good time.


Here is Batman's self described "best friend." She is a sweetie but she is all about the babies right now.

Then we had friends over for dinner and the movie "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." The dinner was good. The movie was just so so.
