School Pictures!

How did I miss posting these?  Who knows.  This was the morning of school pictures.

Here are my cuties.

Batman of course does not want to cooperate.  But I love this one of Ladybug looking at him.
Then Batman jumps on board and gives me a nice pose and Ladybug goes all glamour on me.

None the less.  Too cute.

Picking Pumpkins

Daddy decided we would have a pumpkin carving party this weekend.

Have I mentioned how busy October is?  It is seriously busy.  We have not picked out halloween costumes or gotten pumpkins.  We have to actually schedule our fall farm day in November because there is no available date and time in October for it!  I will be glad when November rolls around!

Anyways,  back to pumpkin carving.  We needed a pumpkin!  So off we went last night to a local church that always has a pumpkin patch.

Cuties

Daddy picking out a good one.  Look at that sunset!  I love the clouds in Texas!  They are always big and puffy and great for pictures.

Batman was going to find a way to get on top of this hay!  Daddy finally had to help.
And a picture of all of us.

Boosterthon day!

Our school is using Boosterthon as our big fundraiser this year instead of selling candy or wrapping paper or cookie dough.  It promotes being healthy, good fitness ad good character and making good choices.  Fantastic program and wonderful for the school.

The kids have been collecting pledges.  On the day of the event, they run laps and they ask for pledges for a dollar amount per lap.  The kids have been so excited about it!

Here they are ready to go to school in the morning.
This is the track they set up.  There are actually two tracks set up at one time and the tracks are just the right size for the kids to run around.
I never did get a good picture of Batman.
I have about 5 of his back though!
Now sweet pea is a different story.  She will stop for a picture anytime.
 Love this one!
I love this one because it shows off her legs.  Doesn't she have the cutest legs!
 Hair flying everywhere!
And.....both kids got all their laps in!  The most they can run is 35 laps and they have a limited amount of time to run.  As they make a lap parents are standing at the starting line and making a mark on the back of their shirt to show how many they did.
And Ladybug with a sweet neighbor and friend!

Boosterthon was a fantastic fundraiser.  The money is going to build a walking track in the back of our school and we blew away goal making $50,000 for our school yesterday!  Awesome!

Tying t-shirts

For Field Day, our kids make their own tie dye shirt.  If you remember from last year, it is a whole big process.  Over 1000 shirts are short and labeled with each child's name on it.

On one day the whole school learns how to tie their shirts with rubber bands to make different designs. The fifth graders get lots of instruction on different methods and the Kindergartners get one choice, the throw it up surprise!

Well yesterday was our tying day.  I got to go in and help my kids.

Sweet pea deciding what she would like to do for her design.
She ended up with the bulls eye method!

Ladybug and some of her classmates.
My little man!  Love the cuddles at school!

Batman and some of his friends.

Very fun day.  The kids love it.  Chris and I got shirts this year.   So I will be purple with Ladybug and Chris will be yellow with Batman.

In two weeks we dye the shirts!

Chess Club

Our school has a chess club that is available for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.  To be considered you have to write a letter to the counselor stating why you want to be in the club, what you expect to get out of it etc.

A man who volunteers with our school system comes in to teach the kids how to play and he applies a life lesson to the game of chess during each meeting.  It is fabulous.

They accept 30 kids into the program.  It is based on when you turn your letter in.  Well this year they had over 80 kids that wanted to participate.

Well they ended up accepting 48 kids.  They arranged the purchase of more chess boards but had to stop at 48 because of the seating in the library and that was all they could hold.

Ladybug made the cut.

Here she is with her acceptance letter and we are headed off to school 50 minutes early for club time.

She was very excited.

Spring Creek BBQ night

Last night was our first Spring Creek BBQ night of the year.  Spring Creek is a great BBQ restaurant that we love to eat at and they have a fabulous school program.  In fact it is so good, that is the only restaurant that we use now.

Blizzard our Mascot made an appearance for several hours.
This was the outside.  This was the line.  It snaked outside, along the path and all the way into the parking lot .... for 3 hours!  I just love the support that our school gets!
My sweet pea waiting in line.
The administration is all there.  This is Ladybug with her Asst. Principal.  Everyone has aprons on and all the kids sign everyone's aprons. The Principal was there as well.
And here Batman is signing one of the P.E. teachers aprons.

The teachers sign up to serve rolls and they wear an apron and walk around serving hot rolls to everyone as they eat.

Very fun night.

Welcome to our teacher

Ladybug has had a long term sub since the beginning of the year.  Her teacher had a baby in July.  So her first day back to school is today.  Yesterday we had a meet the teacher and Ladybug had a chance to officially go in and meet her.

We made a big banner for the classroom and got all the kids in her class as well as her switch class to sign it.  ( We have switch classes here.  You have a homeroom teacher.   Ladybugs homeroom teacher teaches reading and language and then she switches for half a day and her switch teacher teaches math and science.) So both class spend half the day with each teacher.
Then of course my sweet pea is a hugger!  Good thing her teacher is too!
We also made a big card for our long term sub.  I know it is not easy coming into someone else's class at the beginning of the year.  Kudos to her.  We took a picture of all the kids so she would have a memory!

A little more fall

Ok, funny story.  Last year was our first year of holidays in Texas.  Well, families like to decorate around here.  Like really decorate.  So once Christmas decorations were put up we realized we were one of the dark house with no lights and blow ups.  Well we couldn't have that, so we went looking for decorations.  Our local Walmart and Lowes were already out of lights and blow ups!  Chris had to travel about 30 minutes to find light and we never did get a blow up.

So this year, Chris came home in early September and informed the family that Halloween blow ups are out at Lowes.  It just so happened it was the same time Lowes put out those two coupons (yeah). And that night we all together went to Lowes to pick out a Halloween blow up before they were all gone.

Batman asked to put that thing up for three weeks!

It was a nice little square when it came out.  Yeh, that will never happen again.
September 30th, a nice cool rainy morning!
 Stakes in the ground.
 Batman is a little excited!
 Surveying our tree
 Nice picture
Scary Picture!  Whew.  Glad we decorated for Halloween.  We also have out little light up pumpkins along the walkway.

And a few other little things in the house.
 The mantel
The piano has all their years of Halloween dress up.
And our banner found a place along the walkway.

Wonder when Christmas blow ups go on sale!
