Here are a few shots of Ladybug playing catcher. She is doing really good catching, she is stopping the ball and throwing it back!

Love that smile!

Ladybug after the first win.

They were tired. Good game girls.
Then Wednesday night got rained out so they moved it to Thursday at 7:15. Well, this time of year, we have thundershowers popping up every afternoon from all the heat and humidity during the day. The 6pm game stopped play because of lightening and really dark skies so we all sat in our cars till after 7pm when they opened the fields back up. They had to finish the 6pm game so we waited and waited and waited. Buy the time we started our game and finished it was 10pm!
But let me tell you! It was a goooood game. My being a parent and sitting on the bleachers watching is one of the most nerve wracking experiences of all time. I do not say that lightly. Yes, these are 4, 5 and 6 year olds and I am not an extremely vocal person but I find myself yelling the whole game. Every time one of the girls gets up to bat, I am saying come on, come on, come on under my breath and every time they hit that ball it is like they are hitting a home run or something! We have gotten to watch these girls grow over the season and become so good and they have learned so much that even though it is truly about having fun, deep down, you just want them to win. Of course I would never say that to them and the first question I ask is "did you have fun?". And honestly, many times the girls don't even know if they have won the game or not, they are just so excited to run from third base to first base slapping hands with the other team and running back to the dugout to find our who brought snack and what it is! But for me as a parent, I am hyped up at the end of a game and excited and feel like we should be going out to celebrate instead of taking our little ones home because it is bedtime!
But anyway, back to it was a great game. Probably the most nerve wracking game of the season. We played the Portland Heat. They beat us two times before and one game they called the game after just a couple innings because they had run the score up so high. But tonight the girls were on their game and hitting and playing the field. We held them all the way to the end. At game time we were tied and went into an extra inning. They beat us with a run in that last inning. Ah man, we were sooo close. But by this time it was 10pm and once again, they wanted to know who had snack and if they could somehow sneak dumping water on the coach before they realized what was happening.
We play again on Saturday and I will update that later today!
