Another very nice and laid back day. I am so enjoying the kids this summer. Nathan who epitomized the terrible twos is so much fun to be around and watch now and we can all go out for a day of fun and get along!
This morning we headed out to the movie theater in Hendersonville where they offer free G and PG movies on Tuesday and Wednesday. We saw Doogle. It is a couple of years old and was just a little weird but the kids enjoyed it and watched the entire thing. And then all evening Jessica talked about the bad guy and trying to find him and how the good guy locked him back up in the carousel etc. We even had to go digging in the sandbox to find the bad guy because that is where he likes to hide.
Jessica and Charlie. Charlie is deciding between Jessica and another girl to marry. And Jessica is just not sure because she is supposed to marry Josh. What a dilemma.
In front of the movie theatre they have a little water spray area for the kids. We set up a picnic spot and hooked up with some friends from Church and ate lunch and played in the fountains for probably 2-3 hours. The kids were so content. They picked flowers and made a pool for the starfish and a tank for the shark. They played in the water and in the grass and ate snacks the whole time.
Lunch time
Nathan kept putting the toys on top of the water and watching them shoot up.
They would carry water from the fountains to fill things up. Played like this for the longest time!
Nathan very content.
My sweet girl!!
Nathan with his mad face. He couldn't keep it long before he started smiling.
Then we headed over to Marble Slab for some ice cream. No it is not on my healthy eating plan but it was hot and it sounded good. Very yummy.
What a goofy picture! Nathan with his cheesy smile and Jessica with her glasses open. I love it!
Nathan, Jessica, Charlie, Alyn at the ice cream place.
Then off to the house. Nathan passed out half way home and didn't wake up till after 6 o'clock so we stayed up a little late. We worked on sight works and some more of our "sayings".
Here are the sight words we have been working on.
Here is Jessica eating her popcorn. Every time she brings me a word correctly, she gets a popcorn.
I found a book about what kids should know at what age and it has sayings in it. So far Jessica has learned:
1. "Don't let the cat out of the bag". She loves this one, so I give her secrets to keep for a little while.
2. "You hit the nail right on the head". So funny, so told me today that if she got something wrong then she must of missed the nail!!! Made me laugh.
3. "It is raining cats and dogs"
4. "There is no place like home"
5. "Practice makes perfect"
6. "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again"
That's all I can remember.
Ohhhh and we got our teacher assignment for kindergarten today! Jessica will have Ms. Kannon. There are 14 kids in her class right now. She will only go to school one day for the first two weeks and it is only for 3 hours. Then the third week she goes one day for about 4 hours and on Wednesday of the 3rd week she will begin going full time. So we have some more time to get some stuff done that I wanted to do!! I don't recognize any of the kids names in her class but she will be fine. She makes friends very easily and this will give her a chance to make new friends like she did in preschool last year.
Once again we were blessed with such a good day. Tomorrow will be pretty full as well but exciting.
