Park Day

Wednesday July 15, 2009

Another nice day with just a little drama!

Started out at the eye doctor for Jessica. Found out that she is far sighted but that in kids her age they do nothing to correct it. She can see great far away and he said that it would probably correct towards the other way as she got older.

Then off to swim lessons. Nathan is doing so good!! He is getting a breath all by himself and swimming!! Now Jessica I think is a little bored. This time she is in a lap swim class with younger children and she is used to swimming the length of the pool repeatedly and the boys in her group just can't do that yet and I think she is a little bored. Two more classes and she will be in little flippers and I think that it will challenge her a little more.

Outside sea star.

Nathan and his teacher Mary. Here he had to jump and swim to the float, crawl on and stand up and balance and then she would give him commands, like raise your arm, touch your nose.

Then we were off to Drakes Creek for lunch and playtime. It was very warm today and very humid. We ate lunch at the picnic tables but there are just toooo many ducks and duck poop around to really enjoy eating! So we gobbled food and then fed the ducks our gold fish since we didn't bring any bread then headed over to play. It was pretty hot and there were a lot of kids there so we played for awhile and headed over to the bridge.

Jessica and her crown. Very neat crown, Janma gave it too her and she had to put all the jewels on in there spot based on a number and color. She enjoyed making it and it has held up well.

On the playground.

Balancing!

Dig, Dig, Dig!

Well this was our "adventure" for the day. Adventure is the happy spin on it, drama was the better word! As we were crossing the bridge, Jessica was climbing on the side and her flip flop slid between the slats and down down down it went into the water. Jessica started crying and Nathan started crying and I am like ok, what do I do now. I asked Nathan why he was crying and through his tears he points and says Jessie flip flop. And Jessica is really upset. So we watch it and watch it and watch it and it actually goes towards the rocks by they road. It came close to the side once but too far to reach, we had our stick ready and the wind would blow it the other way. Finally it pushed it all the way down to the end of the lake but there were way too many rock and crevices that I did not want to walk down there in flip flops. The city was hanging signs on the side of the road and I asked one of the guys to help and he climbed down the rocks and retrieved our flip flop!

The flip flop in the middle of the water. Jessica is all seriousness said, i wish I were a duck and then I could go get it.

Sitting on the bench waiting for it to come towards us! Jessica was pretty upset.

The retrieved shoe. It was a little dirty after its journey. We didn't want to put it back on.

After that we headed home. It was kind of funny because I was sure it was gone and it was no big deal but we got an adventure out of it!

For dinner daddy took us out to Mexican. I had my first coke in two weeks. Back to no caffine tomorrow! But it was a nice dinner.

Then yard work, while daddy cut, the kids and did the rest of our fouth of July pops and sparklers, and played with a frog that I don't think will make it throught the rest of the night and caught lightening bugs. Jessica asked me today what "bit the dust means". I told her that poor frog has bit the dust. (Actually I think they ran over it with the gator and really slowed it down).

Once again a nice day. The kids have been soooo good this week and we are having fun marking things off our list of things to do this summer!!

Tomorrow the YMCA and Adventure Science Museum and the Planatarium.
