Our butterflies

Janma and Grandpa Hatch sent us a butterfly garden enclosure. So I got on line and found www.insectlore.com. They have all kinds of animals you can order and grow.

So I put in my order for butterflies.

This is what I received in the mail in a little brown box. It was a plastic container with 5 caterpillars in it. They send you 5 babies and guarantee that at least three of them will live. We were fortunate and all 5 survived.

They grew very quickly and double in size.

Then when they were ready, they all climbed up to the top and created their chrysalis.

Once they were completely formed, I took them out of the cup and placed them in the butterfly cage.

About a week later they started coming out. We ended up with 5 butterflies. Ladybug put flowers in the bottom and we sprinkled with them sugar water and I put watermelon in there for them to eat.

We kept them in their cage for several days then decided to let them go.

You can see one flying out here.

Batman got one on his finger.

And Ladybug did too.

Very fun Science Experiment. We had a good time watching all the stages of the butterfly. We might have to order a different creature next time.
