Yeah, we are on the boat

Saturday October 10, 2009

The hotel had a full hot breakfast so we took advantage of that and then had time to put all of our carnival tags on our bags and headed downstairs.

We had a little luggage.

The hotel also provided a free shuttle to the port. We asked them to pick us up at 11:30 and we were off. We were only about 5 minutes away. As we pulled into the port area, Nathan said “whoo, big boat”. Jessica thought riding on the fast bus (shuttle) with no seat belt was fun.

hiding in between the luggage.

I was a little surprised, but the kids were not as impressed as I thought they would be. I think because of their age and all of the things we do together, it just seemed like another cool thing we do together.

After working our way through the line of checking passports, credit cards and getting our sign and sail cards we walked across to get on the boat. Yeah!

Of course we headed straight upstairs to the Lido deck in search of our first meal. It is amazing to me the number of people it takes to orchestrate all of check-in process, food, rooms and cleaning they do on board. There was food everywhere! The kids started out with hotdogs and French fries. I started out with a hot ham and cheese grilled sandwich and we followed up with our first trip to the ice cream counter with cookies.

Then we headed to the room. No luggage yet, but Jessica found a bunk bed! She was so excited. She got the top bunk of course. Nathan likes climbing up but I don’t think he is interested in sleeping up there at all.

Then Tracy sent us a dessert tray to our room. We have not enjoyed it yet, it is waiting in the fridge for a time when we are not so full from other food!

The library - game room for Mark!

Come on baby - win big. It was actually closed because before we left port - kids are not allowed lol.

Then we went exploring on the boat. The kids know that they have to hold hands with someone and Nathan is all about his daddy and Jessica is all about Aunt Tracy! So I have two free hands! We walked most of the boat until a few minutes before we set sail and we had our emergency drill and had to meet at our muster stations. The drill only took about 15 maybe 20 minutes but Nathan went and sat against Chris’s leg and fell asleep. Even Jessica said she wanted to lay down. I think we wore them out. So we went back to the room and then the boat set said and they watched out the window and never went to sleep.

So we were off to the spa raffle which we didn’t win and then we had to head back to the room to get ready for dinner.

And then what do you know, it is dinner time again at 6pm. We had another little talk about dinner time. Mostly with Nathan that he has to sit and be good. I only had to make one trip to the bathroom for a spanking and he was great after that! The kids enjoyed the bread and butter and using the butter knife. We are working on the napkin in the lap thing. Lol. They get it but it keeps falling on the floor. The kids had chicken nuggets and French fries of course. The adults all ordered Shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. Then I had a pasta dish. For dessert I ordered two. Since I can lol. I got crème brouleigh and a chocolate forest cake. They had a chocolate molton cake which they said will be on the menu everynight so I may have to get that one tonight!

Then straight from dinner, we went to orientation for the kids camp carnival. That was a 7:15. Then at 8:00 they had a welcome party for the kids in the 70’s disco lounge. So they had games for the parents and the kids to play together and a dance contest. Since Chris would not dance with them, I had to get out there and it is definitely not my thing lol! But they got to meet Freddy who is the mascot and dance with him.

By this time it was 9pm and we were all tired! We headed back to the room and finished unpacking and watched some tv and headed to bed.
