A Day at Sea

Sunday October 11, 2009

One of my favorite things is sleeping with the curtains open and waking up to the sun. Course we were all so tired, the sun was already up when we woke up. So we turned the shower on and we one by one got in without even turning the water off, and we were ready for the day.

We started out with mimosa’s which were the special in the morning. Mark had a bloody Mary, I will stick with the mimosa. And we all headed to breakfast in the dining room. French toast and bacon for me. Waffles for Nathan and French toast for Jessica and the kids devoured a bowl of fruit.

Then we headed up to the camp carnival around 9am. Got the kids all checked in. Jessica and Nathan both walked right in and didn’t even look back. It made me feel much better. This morning they had monster mania, bubble dance and silly song and game boy time. They said Nathan tried the game boy. Too funny. When we picked them up they had a good time and wanted to go back.

Then since we can’t really use our phones on board, I was in desperate need of a watch. They had a $10 boutique advertised with watches so I headed up there. Then the four adults whet to the library to play cards.

Back to the play area to pick the kids up. They close at 11:45 for lunch. And we went back to the lido deck in search of more food. Nathan got a cheeseburger and ate some of it and Jessica got a whole plate full of French fries and then I made her a ham and cheese roll up. She sat there and ate the entire plate! By the time she was done, Daddy and Nathan had already headed back to the room for a nap so Jessica and I had some girl time and went walking on the ship. We checked out all of the pools and then went to the very top of the boat. It was a little windy.

At lunch Jessica decided that she needed a watch as well so we walked back to the $10 boutique and picked out a matching one for her and a black and white one for Nathan. Kind of cool though, it is teaching her to tell time. It took a little practice but she is reading the time right now.

Then I took Jessica back to camp carnival for the parachute time and went back to the room to sit with Nathan while he was sleeping. Chris went with Tracy and Mark to the casino to play in a slot tournament. Sorry to say, they didn’t win.

By the way, Mark won a trophy today. He won the scattegories game.

Then Tracy and I went to “tea” with Jessica. It was delicious. I am not a tea person but when I told Jessica we were going, she said “a tea party!” She was so excited. Like I said, not really a tea person, but they had cucumber sandwiches and salmon sandwiches – both were good and they had I think 6 different desserts which were fantastic! A chocolate cake which we both loved and this delicious chocolate cookie with cream inside and a peach dessert and a few others. Only problem was that it was only two hours from dinner and we were stuffed already!

We went back to the room for a few minutes and to get ready for dinner. The kids watched a program on the tv showing on how to make the towel animals so they spent the next 30 minutes folding their blankets into “towel shapes”, too funny.

The seas are getting rougher. I agree with Tracy, it makes it a little more fun when you can actually feel the boat moving which you definitely can now. Fortunately neither one of us gets sea sick and the kids seem to be doing fine.

Dinner time again. Tonight was elegant night. Jessica brought her flower girl dress and Nathan bought his tux. They both looked adorable. Chris got some pictures of us before dinner. Nice to have a photographer with us. Tonight was lobster night! We had shrimp cocktail again and I had a chilled strawberry appetizer and the rest had a pumpkin soup that was delicious. Nathan loved it too! Then lobster and shrimp. Tracy had prime rib. Then at the end they had dancing music and Nathan and I danced. Then Nathan wanted to dance with Jessica so they danced together, very cute.

Our towel guest for the night.

After dinner, we took the kids to camp carnival. It was eight o’clock and they were having a prince and princess activity. Then from 10pm-12am they were having a mardi gras party. That was the theme at dinner tonight as well and Nathan accumulated about 10 sets of beads. But we went ahead and left them tonight and they made mardi gras masks and crowns and Nathan made a candy necklace and then they were watching a movie. We picked them up at 11:30 and they both were still going strong!

Things they made and got at camp!

While the kids were there, the adults went and played cards and ate again. We found out that they were serving some of the same things that we had a dinner upstairs on the lido deck. So Tracy and I went and got hot chocolate and then more pumpkin soup and more of the hot chocolate melting cake. Yum. We played cards till the late night comedy started at 10:45. After the comedy we went and picked the kids up and then we all crashed!

Tracy's nightly present to the kids - goggles for the pool.
