Gymnastics time

I have been slow to get involved in things. I still feel very unorganized which is very frustrating for me. The house is no where near where I would like it to be. I joke with Chris that by the time we get all our furniture and everything organized it will be time to move again. But none the less, I had two friends tell me about Cypress Academy when I had not even inquired about gymnastics.

Well, Batman just got released from Speech. In short ( I will try not to let my overall frustration with the school system here show.) It is more difficult to qualify for speech here than it is in Tennessee. You have to be severely impaired to qualify. Batman scored a 36%, where 100% would be perfect English. Well you have to score a 16% or below to qualify in Texas. We had a great experience and the teacher was wonderful in the fact that she worked ahead with Batman into five year old letters that he is having a problem with. And truly he is sooooo much better in speaking. My mom can understand a lot more on the phone now and he is much better conversationally now. But as I am teaching him to read, he has problems sounding out certain letter and words because his mouth doesn't know how to form the letters. But the letters he is having problems with are not letters that should be mastered till he is 8 years old. So anyways, that opens two days a week for the two of us. Which leads us into gymnastics.

So I called for the free trial class and we went last Tuesday.
My man before going into class. He was so excited to go.

Well let me tell you how impressed I was! This is an organized gym. They have about six preschool classes a day. When we got there for our class, there was at least 5 preschool teachers there. About half were men and half were women. Which I loved for Batman, he needs the men teachers. All the kids warmed up together then they break off into groups. They have the preschool broken into four color groups based on skill. Batman was green. They rotate through all the stations with each instructor. When I say rotate, the preschool section is as big as our entire gym back home. It looks to be a fabulous program and Batman loved it. He asked for several days in a row to go back.

Now I had no intention of signing Ladybug back up for gymnastics. She had fun doing it but I just don't think gymnastics will be her thing. Between watching what Batman can do at four and what Ladybug can do at 6, Batman is much more motivated at gym.

But I was so impressed I asked her if she wanted to try a trial class and she immediately said yes. I was surprised. So I took her Tuesday evening. She walked into this place and her eyes popped out. Instead of one uneven bars, there were like 10. And instead of three balance beams there were tons.

She was put into a beginning class. Which after watching the girls her age, she needs to be in the beginning class. Even watching her during class, I didn't think she would want to sign up but at the end of her class, she ran up to me and said she loved it.

So both kids are back in gymnastics and it looks like it will be a great gym to train them.
