Just checking in

September 30, 2009

I am just checking in with a blog.  I have not posted in a while due to life being a bit busy.  But I will update you on a couple of things.

Work is going very well.  I am very much enjoying working in the preschool.  It is neat to get to know each of the kids and all their little quarks.  It is enjoyable to watch them learn.  I am learning a lot myself as well, on how teachers manage a load of 17-20 kids at a time and teaching them to be obedient and independent.  I am very thankful that we chose a Christian school where I get more of an opportunity to teach the kids about God and how much he loves us.  From the bible stories we do and praying at snack, lunch and bible time.  I realize that this is one thing that Jessica no longer experiences at school.  I am just filling in till a full time teacher is hired.  They did offer me the job.  It would be full time, 40 hours a week.  I just don't think this is the right time in my life for that.  But I did offer to work part time.  So I am praying if that is something that would work out then it may be the right time for that and if it doesn't, I know there is another plan.

Countdown t-minus 10 days!!!  I am so excited about our family vacation that is coming up.  This will be our first real family vacation since we had kids five years ago, not counting trips to the grandparents.  I am so excited that my sister and her husband is going with us and looking forward to some more of our special time together. Course I won't hog her too much from Mark.  The kids are very excited, although, I don't think they have a full understanding of what is going to happen.  I can't wait to see their faces when we arrive.  Nathan tells me he wants to see dolphins.  I told the kids that many times they will swim with the boat and jump in the water.  We are working on getting one of those small computer that we can take with us so I can upload pics of our trip as we go!

This week has been so busy.  Yes, I am pretty tired and I could easily go to bed at 8pm every night now lol, course there is way too much to do for that!  But it has also been good.  I think it gives me a chance to look at my priorities.  I only have so much time now and I have to put the most important things first.  I wound't change anything but here is our schedule.

Monday - work 7:30-3pm, my gym at 4pm, soccer at 5:30-7pm  wheew
Tuesday - Work 7:30-3:30, swim from 4:15-5pm.  Home by six - not much time left
Wednesday - Work 7:30-1:15, Nathan testing at 2pm, home my 3:30 and church at 6pm - 8pm
Thursday - Work 7:30-3pm, rest a little and then Disney on Ice tomorrow night!

I did have Nathan tested for his speech today.  We met Mrs. Jordan and she was super nice and Nathan did a very good job working with her.  We have been really working on identifying his letters and the sounds to go with them and she said he did all those great but when he put them together that he was mumbling and not pronouncing them. Although most times you can understand him in context, she estimated that 65% of the time he would not be understood by others.  I have another appointment on October 28th with her to review today and to determine if he needs speech therapy.  She indicated that he would probably qualify and that there would be paperwork to fill out but I will not know for sure until next month.

And lastly, we had a great small group teaching time in Awana tonight.  I went in tonight not feeling ready, with everything being so busy I hadn't put much preparation time in.  We talked about Cain and Able and it was one of those times when you know God was in the room with us.  The kids were so attentive and asked such good questions tonight and we went way beyond the scope of my lesson talking about offerings to God, sacrifices and how they were handled in the Old Testament but that when Jesus died on the cross we don't sacrifice animals anymore.  We talked about right and wrong and the bad decisions that Cain made and that no matter how bad Cain was, God still loved him and put a mark on him so that no one would harm him.  We got into heaven and of course killing and how God is the only person that chooses when a life should end and we talked about family members that are living in heaven already.  I really don't think I could have prepared myself for that lesson and the details that we went into tonight.  He gave me the words to say and I just pray that it was received by the kids in the best possible way.

By the way, I have found how difficult it is to work and keep up with my couponing!  Just getting them cut and organized and then finding the time to actually go and shop!  This seems to be one thing that is not as high on the priority list.  Hoping to get back on that very soon!
