Sea Star is also the MTSC. The Middle Tennessee Swim Club and their swim team competes. Well they also offer competitions for those who are too young to compete and they open it up to the kids who are in little flippers and above at the swim school. It is a non-competive type of environment. They still kept their scores and showed them how to start but it was laid back. Jessica was able to compete in the 8 and under category and we just chose two races. The back stoke and the front or breath stroke. The back stroke was first and she did it in 1 minute 13 seconds and on the front stoke she did it in 1 minute 17 seconds. Then each of the kids will get a ribbon or a prize for competing. She asked me when she got done "did I win". She was one of the littlest ones there and she did an awsome job in the fact that she can even do it, but no she did not win. lol. But she did have fun!
It is is so nice to have a photographer in the family. He borrowed a lense from a friend that can get even closer than his lense and there was no way we could have gotten these pics with my camera and the quality would have been terrible inside that pool area!

Waiting in line for her first race. She has the pink swim cap on.

Touching the water. You better get your foot back!

In the water for the first race. She is doing the back stroke here. She is in the top lane. This age only does 25 yards or one way in the pool.

Go!

I love to watch her arms and how she is learning her form.

Touch the wall! You did it.

Here they are outside. They line the kids up in the chairs in the order of heats and in order of lanes.

So sweet.

Walking in, in the order of their lanes.

Waiting for her turn to swim.

Getting the goggles ready.

On your marks.

Go! It looks like she can dive but she still falls in in that position. lol. They are working on it in her class.

Here she is doing the front stroke.

She is in the far lane at the top.

Go Jessica!

Almost there.

You made it!
It was a very fun night. I am really glad that we did it. They offer a few more but I think one a season is good to start teaching her how it all works if she continues to swim and love it as much as she does, this is a fun thing for her to do.
