Fiesta Mexicana!

Today was our second performance in the TPAC family field trip series. We saw Fiesta Mexicana. It was a Spanish band that played lots of different instruments and explained the origin of the music as they played. Very neat and very interactive. The got the audience involved with the acting out of animals in the songs, the clapping bringing kids on stage. This year I ordered tickets for all the events as soon as they went on sale because we loved the family field trips last year and we ended up with seats in the second row. So when they asked for volunteers, we were up close and Ladybug got picked. So she went up on stage and danced one song with them.

Before the performace, they have activities in the lobby which are great. The first station they went to had different instruments you could play and Ladybug got up on the little stage and put the little clickers on her feet and danced with a sash.

Batman with a drum of course!

Then we went and made ponchos.

Here Ladybug is talking with one of the ladies who speak Spanish and she is teaching her to say something.

Finished ponchos. they had strips of ribbon like material that we taped onto the bottom.

Then we made hats called copelli (I think) but we were not allowed to take the ponchos into the show and we put our hats with our ponchos and someone took our hats. Batman was so sad because they had feathers that we taped onto the top of them. I felt bad for the kids.

Overall very fun.
