Fortunately I had found a storytime that was close by and to get my mind off my Ladybug being gone, Batman and I headed out for some comfort time doing what I do best. I think with all the excitement lately, I needed a little of "my" normalcy.
It certainty was not the same but once again changes are not always bad.
The local community college has a library branch and we headed over there. Yea for computers. It was great, in the children's area there were 15 to 20 computers set up, all new flat screens with headphones for the kids and kids websites already loaded.
You had to pick up a number for storytime as they only allow 35 children in for each session. You wait in the kids area until you are called to come back to the storytime room.
All the kids sit on the floor and the parents around the outside. I think Batman was the only one that sat on a parents lap but he was not going for the floor under any circumstances. lol. And the parents were instructed not to chat because the kids would feel like it was ok to talk as well.
But actually it was a good storytime. Batman enjoyed the songs and she read three books, while all the kids stayed on their "Pockets" or their booties and they got to enjoy a craft afterwards.
The theme was black birds today and we read and sang about penguins and black crows and here is Batman with his penguin craft. He actually had a really good time making the craft. Then he headed over to play on the computers for 45 minutes, which he loved before we headed home for lunch. So glad we got out to have some time today.
This afternoon we jumped back into homework and worked on building three letter words, saying a word and picking out the phonics sounds and matching uppercase to lowercase letters.
Tomorrow he starts speech again. He met his speech teacher today and after viewing her toy closet he was hooked and ready to go.
One more note, it was so easy to get him into speech here. After we dropped Ladybug off in her classroom, Chris saw the speech room and asked if we could stop in and meet her. She was prepared to give me a number to call to set up an evaluation to get the ball rolling. Once I told her I had an IEP, she said ok, what days do you want to come, I can put him on the calendar for tomorrow. So one more bit of normalcy to get back to.
