Ice Skating!

First of all... Shoes are an issue for my son. It absolutely drives me bonkers to the point where I want to throw the shoes at him. Of course I don't but I have been known to throw them in an another direction. I think his feet are just big. They don't look big, they seem normal but he won't wear shoes in his size. They are all bigger. If his tie shoes don't just slide on, then he thinks they are too small and the "tongue" bothers him.

So what happens, is I put his socks on and put his shoes on and tie them and before I can get to the second shoe, he whines (full out annoying, drive you bonkers whine) and shoves the shoe off his foot. Now I can be sympathetic and will work to get the tongue "just right" and "tie it tighter" but when he does this EVERY SINGLE MORNING for a year, trying different shoes, different sizes, his favorites etc, it really does get old.

So this morning, we went through the same thing, looking for a different result. It didn't happen. Fine, go get your crocs. He whined because he really wanted his tie shoes but I really wanted to go. So he got his transformer crocs and put them on. But what I didn't realize was he took his socks off too.

Well we are going ice skating and it is 30 minutes from home and we parked and I realized he didn't have any socks. Now I am usually prepared and for years I always carried an extra pair in my purse for both kids but I didn't have any. I say this because ice skating is not Batman's favorite sport. He is very good at it and can stay up by himself and skate, he is just done after a few minutes while Ladybug really enjoys it and can skate for hours. Well, you can't skate without socks. Ahhhhh.

Oh well, you are skating anyways! And he did, with no socks and he did great. His feet didn't bother him and he skated for two hours with us. I was very proud of him.

And he actually had fun!

Of course Ladybug had fun. She periodically asks me if I will come see her in the Olympics. Not sure what event she is interested in yet. But she just knows that she enjoyed watching the Olympics and that she is going to do it someday.

Ahhh the Zamboni. It usually comes out at 12pm to resurface the ice and I mentioned that it would be here soon. So every time we made a lap, Batman had to stop at the Zamboni entrance and look to see if it was coming.

It was late today because the Predators were practicing on the other rink and their practice when over but it finally came out around 12:15 and the kids all lined up to watch.
