Our last zoo class

Thursday was our last zoo class. I have thoroughly enjoyed our time together on Thursday's and I think Batman has as well. We explored yet another section of the zoo today.

The stork was out today

Ride time.

Then the Lorikeets. We had a great time. This was the first day it was warm enough for them to be out and they were flying all over the place. They now have 59 Lorikeets and five of them are babies that were born last year. They have a mating plan in place in hope to keep increasing those numbers and she said she would like to get to 70.

But what was so great was that they were so much friendlier this year. The babies have been hand raised and are comfortable with humans so they didn't hesitate to land on you and I think the whole group has gotten friendlier after being here for awhile so it was a different experience than we have had in the past.

She was substituting their diet.

Batman took this picture. He cut my head off lol. He actually had another picture with another bird on my head but it just wasn't the prettiest to see a bird on my head. lol.

Before heading to the zoo, we found some rain boots at a consignment sale. He loves them and got to thoroughly enjoy them throughout the wet zoo!

We walked to the giraffes and elephants today as well.

Off to class. We saw a Kickapoo today. She said it was highly rare to see one of these. She had to wake him up to come out because he sleeps during the day.

And the Hyacinth macaw. This one is not on exhibit at the zoo on the entrance parkway. He is only for teaching and he was extremely friendly.

He would roll around on her hands...

Spread his wings....

And would lay down in her arms.

We got to pet him.

Then for our craft today, we made a stained glass project out of wax paper and leaves and glitter.

Ok, Batman asked them to have the alligator eat his head.

Then she put wax on the wax paper and melted it together.

Cookie and story time.

Our last goodbye song.
