Most of you all know I love to go and do stuff. I would love nothing more than to sit and read (adult books, not Clifford) for hours every day but since my life is not set up for that scenario, I love to get out and do stuff.
I also love all the activities that my kids do. I love having the resources to let my kids do and participate in what ever they want and I love the busy times when there is a lot going on.
Now, on the other hand, I really want to keep things in perspective. I don't ever want to force my kids to participate in something they really don't want to and I don't want my kids overloaded. And I don't want to be that mom that is so burnt out carpooling kids everywhere (personally I love to do that) and so stressed that you have to have a break.
So, this is what our spring lineup is:
Ladybug
Gymnastics on Mondays
Swim on Tuesdays - beginning in April
Softball - now through May
Batman:
Gym on Tuesday mornings
Zoo on Thursdays - only two more weeks left
Swim on Tuesdays - beginning in April
Soccer - now through May
Now gym classes are only an hour each week, swim is only 30-45 minutes each week, soccer is maybe 2-3 hours each week and softball is yet to be determined.
But they each enjoy what they are doing and we are still getting all of the important things in there like, reading every day, crafts and activities at home, church on Sunday morning, Praise Kids and Awana on Wednesday night, pretty much every meal together at the table (news may be on though) and plenty of free play time at home.
So I talked to Ladybug the other day in the car about everything that we have going on. I just explained to her that if she ever started getting tired of all the things that she is doing and wants to take a break that she can or if she would like to pick one thing to go at a time and then do something else when that is over, that is fine to.
She seemed very reflective and quiet for a minute. Then she said "can I do Karate too?"
