Our Memorial Day Nature Walk

After graduation pics in the morning and lunch at home, the kids and I headed to the greenway for a "nature walk", as Ladybug calls it. A friend mentioned that you can play in the creek at one point so I went looking for that.

On the bridge, looking over the side you can see fish.

We saw a bird that had just picked up a worm.

We found a small stream to dig in.

Then we found the big one. Here they are just reaching in.

Testing out the water.

Feet are totally in!

Here they decided to build a small dam in the middle. As we moved rocks, we would watch how the water flow changed it's course.

Ok, we might as well just sit down.

Here they would put leaves in the water (aka, boats) and watch which one floated fastest down the stream.

The waterproof bandaid! We graduated to knee and elbow bandaids this summer because more bike rides, less training wheels and an overall faster running speed equates to lots of falls. The waterproof bandaid held up to a couple hours of creek play and a good 45 minute warm bath afterwords.

The after picture. Batman posed them and wanted to stand that far away from Ladybug in the picture.

Then I asked for a nice picture together and this is what I got!

Yep, we were are little wet.

They loved the trip. We walked over a mile and the played in the creek for at least an hour if not more. Then we came home, checked on our baby birds, got a bath, ate dinner, rode bikes for a few minutes and then read books and went to bed!
