Ladybugs Field Day 5-7-2010

I didn't get to Ladybug's field day until 11:30 so I think I missed most of it. By the time I got there, they were all exhausted, hot, and tired. Some were just plain done playing.

It was very windy today and we couldn't play volleyball so they played ball games instead. They had to pass the ball down the line and they were racing two other classes.

Then they had to pass it through their legs.

Next was hula hoop fun. I just liked this picture of her. Of course when she is concentrating, her tongue comes out.

The boy in yellow is her friend that lives down the street. His mom and I agree that they have a love/hate relationship. One day they are perfectly happy with each other and can't get enough of spending time and then next they hate each other and don't want to talk about it. Today the relationship is on as evidenced by her smile at him.

They had to stand in a circle and hold hands and pass the hula hoop around the circle of the entire class without letting go.

Then it was girls vs. boys.

Sack races. All the adults agreed that this brought back memories.

Looking a little tired.

Now they are really tired. They laid their beach towel out and just sat down.

The next station was a bubble gum blowing station. They were all hot and complaining so we were going to just take the bubble gum inside. But school rules dictate no gum in school. So that plan didn't work out. We just went back to the room to cool off and go to the bathroom and get more water. Ms. Kannon actually explained to the class why there is no gum in school. Ya know, because "highschoolers" stick it under their desk! Why did she say that. First question from Ladybug after we left school. "Why do older kids put gum under their desks?"

Then we were off to the gym for line monsters. They put lines all over the entire gym. You had to walk on any line that you wanted and if one of the monsters (that had a soft stick in their hand) tagged you, you had to do "something." One round it was a jumping jack, one round someone had to crawl through your legs before you could start walking again.

They had obviously played this before and all loved it.

She stopped to pose on one of her passes by me.

Yep, she is getting tired! Love the movement around her and her almost standing still.

Back to the classroom. Kids signed each others yearbooks and one song, "We are going on a bear hunt," and it was time to head on out.
