First stop was the University of Southern Mississippi. It came up in conversation recently about daddy proposing so we stopped by to show the kids where it he did.
In the front of Southern they have a little pond with an island in the middle with a bridge leading over. Just about 20 years ago he had set up a little table across that bridge and had a letter and walked me over and proposed.
And all four of us on the little island, we were all staring into the sun so not the best pic.
And then we took the kids by our first house in Petal, MS. It looked pretty much the same as when we lived there. It was 1300 square feet, two bedrooms and one bath. We had come a long way in the last 20 years!
Next we headed to Mamaw and Papaw's house in Hattiesburg. Kids have been looking forward to this because they were going to get to see Papaw's gun collection.
We got to hear some of Papaw's stories about how he came into possession of some of his guns and the stories behind them.
And then the best part was we got to shoot some of them. Living in a rural area means you can go out in the front yard and shoot because there is nothing else around.
I got to shoot too! Lots of shooting pictures to scroll through but I love them all.
Next gun, daddy went first.
Pawpaw's turn
This one had a little kick to it.
Ladybug's turn
Love, they were all working out a problem.
Love my girl, this was her favorite gun
And another little kick.
Batman's turn
I got to go again.
And lastly the little one.
We finished up shooting and then all went to Chesterfields for dinner.
Mamaw and Papaw Massey joined us in Hattiesburg for dinner.
I unfortunately didn't get pictures of the restaurant or of the Windham's but after dinner we went joined them at church for a Sunday evening Christmas service. It was a fun service and a great evening.
We said our goodbyes and then headed to Richland which will be our stop for the next couple of days.
