National Botanic Garden

Last thing on the agenda for Friday was the National Botanic Gardens.   The Botanic Gardens are also part of the Smithsonian so they are also free to get into and I am so glad because as we pick and choose what we like to do, the gardens may not have made the cut if it was an additional cost.

And I am so glad because the exhibit for the holidays was so fun!

 They had lots of different poinsettias exhibited.  I guess this is a mom fail because my kids didn't know what a poinsettia was :)

 Replication of the Washington Monument.  Every item exhibited has been recreated with plants and flowers!

 Banana trees.  We have these in our backyard but one cold snap each year and it never really produces.

 The Holiday exhibit was recreated train stations.  There was so much detail that went into all of it!

 And a coco tree, if that is the right name lol.  And the significance of this is they apparently have them in Minecraft.

 After walking through all of the gardens, we walked by the reflection pool that is in front of the capital.

 And back to the room!  I was exhausted.  We watched a movie... The night at the museum and I was asleep before 9.
It was a good day!  Tomorrow we start at the National Air and Space Museum and we will end with a little family splurge!
