Thanks to a very calm hurricane season, we had a full week off for Thanksgiving break. Who Hoo. So we took it even further and left early from school Thursday and played hookie on Friday in New Orleans. Course we did have to be somewhere on Friday evening so we did have a reason for leaving early.
I couldn't wait to introduce the kids to New Orleans. It was somewhere my dad and Jan took me, I met the sisters there before a cruise and of course during college we made many trips down for a late night or a weekend. Plus I had not been back since Katrina hit.
We found a "quaint" hotel in the quarter. As in old but updated. And Aunt Tracy and Uncle Mark were waiting for us.
We found a neat little restaurant that we walked to and were able to sit outside on the patio under the heater (it was pretty chilly) for dinner. After dinner, it was late so we headed back to the hotel to start our next day early.
First on the agenda a morning walk and beignets and Cafe Du Monde.
Looks like a homeless person on a doorstep. It was just Batman pouting.
He is getting over it.
Window shopping.
Found a fountain.
Love this pictures of Ladybug.
We have arrived.
Beignets and hot chocolate!
Yummy. Double order.
Sweet pea loved it.
Batman wouldn't even try them!!!! He loved his hot chocolate though.
Had a little incident with some powered sugar. I flicked some on her,
She flicked some on me. Ya know how it goes. lol.
We didn't have much time before we had to head to our next destination but we got a little sight seeing in.
Had to sample some pralines. I liked the chocolate ones!
Batman found alligator oven mits! Cracked me up.
He got daddy with them.
Made a stop in the grocery store. Daddy wanted a muffaletta. Mark wanted one too so we all split a big one. Ladybug actually liked it. Not my favorite but can you believe I had never tried a muff. Even after working at the restaurant for 10 years.
And one final shot before we packed up to head out. It was fun. Kids were not as impressed as I wanted to them to be though, but want are ya gonna do. lol.
