First Football Scrimage

Batman is playing football this year.  We are trying it out.  This mama has so many mixed feelings about football that that deserves its own post.  So for now, here are some shots at his first scrimmage this year.

 Team getting ready to start
Drills before they game. Batman is learning a ton.  For as aggressive as he is off the field, he is really having to learn how to be aggressive on the field.

Pushing through.  He is in the black pants.
 Water break
Thought he looked so tough here!
 And so cute here.
Insert funny story.  We had a black practice jersey and needed an orange one.  I asked daddy to pick up a large one.  Well he was fantastic and picked up a large adult jersey.  So it was a little long.  So I figured I would cut it off.  I cut it a little too short.  But better short than long!

And we had a visitor on the sidelines!  A coyote appeared as it was getting dusk and paced along the side of the field.  He was plenty far away but still a little unnerving.

We are ready for our first official game tomorrow!

A little football

We waited till the last minute to make the decision if Batman could play football or not.  We decided to let him go ahead and try it.  We are second grade so it is tackle!

The first week was just conditioning in the heat.  And getting used to the weight of the helmets.

Second week started full pads! Boy was it an adjustment.  But we worked through it.  I know I should say tough, but he looks so cute in his pants and compression tops.
Coaches have been great with him and teaching him.  He has never played before but they are working with him and he is learning the game.
Yeah so cute running the ball.
 And again.
And they took it easy on him (at least from where I was sitting) the first night they started hitting.  You can tell they didn't hit him to hard.  Some of the big boys were getting hit so hard the coach was knocking them down.
He is in the black.  Still shying away from the tackling but he is getting better!

Should be a fun season as long as no big boys try to take him out!  This momma may not like that.

Tired of Electronics

Our summer is coming to an end.  Not the heat, just the no school.  I have been very lenient this summer with the electronics.

There has been a lottttt of this....
 and this....

IPods with Minecraft and Computers with Minecraft.

Well I was done.  On Thursday I took it all away.  No more screen time.  No more arguing over who did what to so and so's character, no more crowding around the outlet to charge the IPods, no more tutorials in the background on the newest "mod" or the next coolest thing to build or the bad characters that want to kill you.

I guess I can say I have had enough of Minecraft.  We are going back to a very reasonable amount of computer/electronics time of an hour a day.  And once school starts again, I don't think there will be even time for that.

Hope they enjoyed it while it lasted!

Just a snap before church

I feel like we all wear sports shorts and tanks just about everyday.  So it makes me smile when the kids get a little dressy.

My Ladybug who wore nothing but dresses for a whole year a few years back now wants shorts, t-shirt and running shoes so she is always ready to play.  But she looks so sweet and grown up when she wears her dress and boots.
And of course daddy dresses up everyday for work.  But my Batman can be found most days shirtless and shoeless with a pair of athletic shorts.  So the cargo shorts with a belt and nice shirt makes me think he is totally dressed up!

And my little man who thought he was totally smarter than me, jumped in the front seat of the truck to go to church and buckled himself up like he belonged there.
So I totally humored him and I sat with my Ladybug in the back for the short drive.  But he is crazy if he thinks that will be a permanent arrangement.

Having a wondering Sunday!

Ice Cream Social

Hello again!  I have so missed my blogging!  I spent the last two years taking pictures for our yearbook and I have thousands and thousands of pictures that I had to process and I simply stopped using my camera.  I was way too overwhelmed and thought if I didn't take anymore pictures, I wouldn't have to process them and I wouldn't feel bad.

Unfortunately I have missed documenting our lives.  So my plans are to keep it simple and start using my camera again and only capture the things that I love.

And those that I love most had their Ice Cream Social welcome back to school last week!

They are ready.  I am fortunate that I have kids that like going to school and are very excited to go back.  I am completely torn!  I love having them with me everyday.  But I have so much on my plate that it will be a relief to get work done while they are at school and truly enjoy them when they are home!  Boy how life changes as your kids get older!

And just so we can all be honest here.  That wonderful picture you see of a brother and sister that love each other is a little of an illusion.  I had to count down and I had a total of three seconds where Ladybug's arm was allowed around her brother and where they would both smile at the same time!  But of course I got the shot I wanted and I hope someday they can really appreciate how cool it is to have a brother and sister!

And my little man doing a little golfing.

Any my Ladybug with one of her good friends.

Ice Cream Social was a success with a line around the building for over an hour!

One more week to enjoy before school starts!

Mets action

Batman played his first coach pitch game on opening weekend.  He did very good!  I can't count the number of times that the coach told him to get baseball ready because he was dancing in the field and playing in the dirt but every time that ball was hit he jumped into action and he shocked me as he caught all the balls thrown to him.  I was very impressed.  And to top it off, he got a home run!  How exciting!

Up to bat.  This is his first year of coach pitch.  We have always pitched him balls.  He has always been able to hit it.  But the transition from soft toss to real baseball pitching has been tough.  He pitches that ball fast and Batman has really had to work on his timing to be able to hit the ball.

Coach is giving him a pep talk.
 Boys are ready.

 Up to bat.
Get ready. He is so cute and goes through all the mechanics he has been taught as he gets up to bat.
 He hits it.

This is where I stopped watching.  In girls coach pitch, they don't even let you take a base on an overthrow.  Well in boys that is not the case.  They didn't have someone backing up and the boys kept throwing the ball so time could not be called and when I looked up Batman was rounding second.
And rounding third on the way home!

Who Hoo!  Very exciting for him!
 Up to bat again.
Here he is at second base.
 Great game boys.

My little man!

A little Parade Time

Saturday was Opening Day for Fairfield baseball season.  We all met up at our house to decorate the trucks and eat breakfast.

Ready to go in the truck!

A little paint on the windows.
 Heading out of the driveway.
Here they come.  The Fire Truck leading the way.
 There they are!

 And there they go.
Very fun morning and day!
