Confetti and mud bugs

First off, I have never heard of confetti eggs. Maybe I have just been missing something all these years but you can buy them here at HEB and they are just eggs filled with confetti that you can crack on others. The kids across the street have had them out the last few days and are so excited to go around popping them on each other.
So the very good mother I am...... when Ladybug came running inside and said I have a surprise for you, you have to come now! Her and the neighborhood kids were setting me up to break one on me. So I dutifully went along like I didn't know what was going to happen. And I got confetti all over me.

Now on to Mud Bugs. I didn't know they were called this. Our neighbors had a crawfish boil and invited us to stop by. In south Mississippi we had a few we went to but that was like 10 years ago (wow, I am getting old!) And this was the kids first experience.

Let me tell you it was wonderful. I really don't care to peal them and my sweet husband peeled most of them for me but the potatoes and corn and sausage that they cooked with it was wonderful!
Batman got to help fill the cooler up with water to clean them.

Opening Day Parade

I am finally getting around to blogging the opening day parade for our baseball/softball league.

I have mentioned that this is the league for our subdivision. There is also a city league. And I would guess there were at least (I am guessing here) 50 teams with boys and girls from t-ball to older kids.

Well we all meet up with our respective teams very early.

And when I say early, I mean 7:30am and the significance of this is that we both slept through our alarms which is really weird for us. Chris woke up at 7:10 and if you can picture a frantic family trying to get two kids completely ready, dressed in uniforms grabbing a snack and putting a hat on my head, that was us.

Amazingly we made it! If they were not at the first drop off point on time, they didn't get to ride.

Once all the kids were together, they had to drive to the outlet mall at the front of the subdivision to line up for the parade.
The angels. At this point, daddy is riding with the girls, I dropped Batman off with his team and I am on my bike looking for a good place to take pictures on the parade route.

Then we all head to the baseball fields for opening remarks and the first baseball and first softball pitch.






Very fun morning. We headed to McAlister's for some lunch because I was starved! Then home to take a much needed shower before heading back out to the fields for games for each child.

Funny, Nathan has not taken a nap in a long time (excpet when he was sick). So he was fine, but by the afternoon games, all the kids were exhausted and most were coming with sleepy eyes from just waking up and my kids were just ready to go. In fact the team we played for Batman's game called the game early because his kids were so tired.

There was about three weeks at Christmas that just flew away from me and I didn't get to blog any of it.

Well these pictures came up today and reminded me. So here you go!
The girls had some time out together. Look at Ladybug and her pillow pet. Here is my mom, stepmom, sister, Ladybug and me.
We all went to breakfast/lunch at Mimi's cafe. There was a wait so of course we broke out the playing cards.
We all got mimosa's to toast the occasion. Ladybug's was straight up orange juice, which by the way she decided she liked!

Game Ball!

Batman had a game on Tuesday this week. Let me tell you watching 12 4 year olds playing baseball is challenging at best.

But seriously, I was in the field with him tonight so I didn't get any of the great shots of him fielding and throwing the ball. They put him on first base for the second have of the first inning and he caught both balls that were thrown to him and tagged the base.

He played second base the second inning and caught two really good grounders that came to him and made two great throws to first base.

Which earned him...the game game ball!

Ladybug softball game 4-2-11

Today was game 2 for Ladybug. When we arrived we found out the coach had to have an emergency appendectomy last night. That left daddy coaching! So he jumped in with no roster or batting order and had a great time coaching!
I on the other hand, was sporting the large camera lens and this new shirt that I made. I am having fun with the bling. They are the yellow jackets and their colors are gold and blue. Not real easy to do a shirt in those colors so I opted for the MOM shirt with the baseball in the center. I got some great shirts at Kohls this week, the wicking kind, on sale for $5 so this was perfect for my first bling shirt.

I decided instead of posting all the pics, I would just go ahead and make my scrapbook pages as I go and not have to duplicate working with the same pictures again. Now they are ready to load into my spring sports scrapbook! If you click on it you can make it big so that you can see some of the great action shots.
